With 3 and a half miles of perfect white sandy beaches, Oceanside offers the perfect environment for a huge variety of surf or sand activities, from great surfing and bodyboarding to beach volleyball, frisbee, or soaking up some rays and working on your tan. This setting is a far cry from the urban Kitsilano condos neighborhood! Whether you're going to the beach just to spend some time relaxing with a good book, or to take part in athletic activities, the beaches in Oceanside have got it all. Here is some more detailed information about the specific beaches featured in this great community:

Harbor Beach: Oceanside's largest public beach, Harbor Beach offers a variety of activities at the northernmost point of Oceanside's coast. Aside from the usual beach activities, you and your family can find more fun things to do at the adjacent Oceanside Harbor. They offer daily deep sea fishing expeditions, jet ski and kayak and life jacket rentals, as well as numerous quaint and colorful shops, smoothie bars and eateries. Clearly this is not what is available to those that live in lofts, Toronto or New York based!

Breakwater Bay: Located directly south of Oceanside Harbor Beach, Breakwater Bay is very popular among families, surfers, and volleyball players alike. The area at the San Luis Rey river mouth is often much less crowded than other beaches, thanks to its distance from the parking areas. If you do not mind the short hike, you will feel like you have got the place to yourself!

Pier View North: The sandy beaches that lie to the north of the Oceanside Municipal Pier also tend to be less crowded than the beaches directly south of the pier, since the Oceanside Amphitheater is located to the south and the majority of the surfing competitions occur near the Amphitheater. This beach is nevertheless very popular for its surfing, fire rings, frisbee and volleyball. This often makes for more of a quiet, and relaxed atmosphere. Many Ontario first time home buyers make this their holiday destination to escape from the harshness of cold Canadian winters.

Tyson Street Beach: Located just a short walk away from the Pier, Tyson Street Beach is a relatively small beach area which is primarily characterized by the fact that it is connected to a small park, making it the ideal spot for families or couples looking to enjoy a picnic and relax in the grass, letting the worries of work and school and those new actively managed ETFs that your boss has been harping you about!

There are many more beaches across the city, and the best way to find out about them is to come and explore all that Oceanside has to offer!
